Max Light returns with his newest album as a bandleader, "Unlearning," releasing November, 2026, via Chill Tone Records. Praised by DownBeat as "complex, shrouded in mystery and endlessly intriguing" and profiled at length in Guitar Player, Light has built a reputation as one of jazz guitar's most distinctive young voices.

Joined by saxophonist Caleb Wheeler Curtis, pianist Julian Shore, bassist Walter Stinson, and drummer Steven Crammer, "Unlearning" showcases the quintet's intricate interplay across ten original compositions, from the propulsive "Authentication Two-Step" to the sprawling "Talking to You" and the tender closer "Caregiving." Recorded live at The Samurai Hotel in Astoria, NY, and dedicated to Light's father, the album captures a working band at its most exploratory and emotionally direct.
